For the birthday girl!
For the birthday girl!

Good morning everyone!

And particularly, good morning and a big happy birthday to Grace! I hope you have a really happy day today Grace with your nearest and dearest. Thinking of you today, and sending you a huge virtual hug!

Movement first! Here's Joe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edXEJ4RHx10 This is a 10 minute HIIT workout to get your heart rate up, if you are in the mood for something a little shorter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAXg3cM0UCw

Or, in between English and Maths, hop up and do the Cha Cha slide. This video has 93 MILLION views!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZv62ShoStY

English

Reading Zone 'The Baby Sentry' p.135, 136, 137 and just (A) p.138. Write out answers, or say the answers out loud if you are feeling a little lazy this morning!

New words: 1) ecstatic 2) initially 3) enthralled (in dictionary as enthrall). Look up the meaning https://www.collinsdictionary.com/ and write out the definitions and then put into your own sentences. No scrimping on this bit of writing. Flex those finger muscles!

No need to log on to the online readers today if you wish, as there is plenty reading in the story above.

A little grammar next. Identify the prepositions in these sentences. Remember these are the words that usually tell you where something is located. Think of 'position' in the work preposition. In class we underline them in green https://ie.ixl.com/ela/class-4/identify-prepositions

Maths:

1) www.10ticks.com for Mental Maths. Look at older posts for log in details, or else contact me at email address above

2) Master Your Maths p.9 on www.cjfallon.ie Log on and click into 5th class - Maths- Master Your Maths- Online Book (click on the eye symbol) and turn to p.9 Thursday. See screenshot below if you have trouble logging on.

3) Equivalent fractions, remember these? It is different ways of saying the same fraction, e.g. a half is the same as two quarters. Try the worksheet below. You can either print it off, if you are lucky enough to have a printer, or open it on your laptop or phone and write out the answers.

Gaeilge:

Go to www.cjfallon.ie and click 5th class, Gaeilge, and then 'Léigh sa Bhaile' and go to p.2 'Iníon Ní Riain'. Again I will put the screenshot below if you have any trouble logging on. Read the page, and see if you can answer the questions. Don't worry about any words you can't pronounce. Just do your best. If you get that done, maybe kick back and watch Spongebob as Gaeilge https://www.cula4.com/en/shows/spongebobsquarepants/

Geography:

Go to www.cjfallon.ie and log on as you have been doing, then go into 5th class and click on 'SESE' in the next dropdown menu. Select'Geography Quest' and open the online book. Then go to p.36 'Clouds' and read the page on the three different types of clouds; cumulus, stratus and cirrus clouds. I've attached the screenshot if you can't log on. You can always do your own research on these clouds by googling them yourself.

That's it for today guys. I will check in with you all again tomorrow. Until then have a lovely day and remember to be safe and be kind,

Le grá,

Ms. Simcox
