Thursday: Happy Birthday Caitlyn!

Good morning gang!
Happy birthday Caitlyn! I am thinking of you today and sending you a big virtual hug! I hope that the cake you get today is half as tasty as one of your own yummy lemon cakes! Have a wonderful day with your nearest and dearest.
How are you all this morning? I hope that you all enjoyed the sunshine yesterday, even if it was just from your window. Sunshine is good for the soul. Let's start, as usual with some movement. I know that you know all about Joe Wicks, but here are a few other options too.
Movement: Zumba is great fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHo9QaJ1DyI, or one of your favourites 'Banana, banana, meatball' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQ9q4U2P3ig or I think you will all love this dance along to 'Best Day of my Life', which has more than 24 million views! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNog54ovi8Q
English:
1) Reading first. Log on to https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ and keep reading. See previous posts for log on details, or email me with any problems at room12@stbrigidsthecoombe.ie
2) Reading Zone 'House A, B or C?' p.130 Do (D) and (E) and then choose between (F) and (G)
3) New words: propped (look up the verb 'prop') and 'trek'. Use dictionary at home, or here https://www.collinsdictionary.com/ Write out the definition and put in a sentence
Maths:
1) Watch this video overview on negative numbers here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U1kCOuNpR4
It's an American video, so they say 'negative 3', but in Ireland we say 'minus 3'. Think of when you are in a lift and you press -1 to go down to the carpark. That is called 'minus 1'
2) Fractions review here https://ie.ixl.com/math/class-4/fractions-review
3) Log on to www.10ticks.com and set up your profile if you haven't already. Work set for everyone here. See posts last week for log on details, or email me if you are stuck
4) Log on to Busy at Maths at https://www.cjfallon.ie/ Press on 'click here' to go to all the books. Click on '5th class', 'Maths', and 'Busy at Maths online book' and click the symbol that looks like an eye. You will have to give your name and email address to access it. That way you have all the books online. If you can't do that, I'll put screenshots of the pages below. Go to p.126 'Directed Numbers'
Gaeilge: Watch 'Cúla4arScoil', which is the TG4 version of the RTE School Hub. You don't have to understand it all, but just listening to it while you have your breakfast or lunch would be amazing. It starts off really easy with some counting! Maith thú! https://www.cula4.com/en/shows/cula4-ar-scoil/
Science:
Science Quest 5: This book is available online at www.cjfallon.ie. See maths section above for log on details. Go to p.5; Pickled Humpty Dumpty. This is the experiment with the boiled eggs and vinegar that we started in class. Read page 5, 6, 7, 8 and chat to your parents/ guardians about the predictions and answers. You don't have to write out the answers, but you can if you would like. If you can't log on, look at the screen shots attached below.
That's it for today guys. Hope you are getting out for a safe walk in the sunshine but remembering to keep a distance, and not staying outside for too long. No picnics allowed yet I'm afraid! Don't forget the suncream!
Chat to you tomorrow. Sending virtual hugs,
Ms. Simcox
