The Life Cycle of a Silk Worm

Recently we have been learning all about the silk worm! Where it comes from, what it produces and what its short life looks like. We decided to create some exciting artwork to show the four stages in the life of a silk worm.

1. First the mum lays eggs on the mulberry leaf.

2. Next the eggs turn into caterpillars. They eat leaves for 42 days.

3. Then they make their cocoons and climb inside.

4. When they hatch from their cocoons they turn into a silk moth. They lay some eggs and die a few days later.

Fun facts

Silk worms can be found in China and the cocoons are used to make silk clothes. If you would like to learn more about the silk worm you can check out this link -
