Springtime is here!

Good morning boys and girls! I have been going for a lot of walks near my house while we have been off school and I have been spotting some lovely spring flowers over the last few days! Here is a photograph I took on my walk yesterday of some beautiful yellow daffodils! The next time you're going for a walk with your family, keep an eye out and see can you spot anything new in nature that wasn't there a few weeks ago!

I have attached a sheet below called 'Spring Nature Walk Frame.' If you have a printer you could print it off and bring it on your walk or you can create your own with just a piece of paper and a pen either. What can you see? What can you hear? What can you feel and what can you smell?

How are all your plants that we planted in school doing at home? Have you been minding them on your windowsills and making sure they get plenty of sunlight and water? I would love to see some photographs of them - you can ask your mam or dad to help you email them to room2@stbrigidsthecoombe.ie

Spring is such a lovely time of the year. Everything starts to come to life again after a long, cold winter. New baby animals will be born and the days become a little bit longer and warmer. Animals that have been hiding away in a deep sleep called hibernation wake up and come out of their dens. Many birds also return from their winter homes and we can start to hear them singing again! Below I have attached a lovely spring poem called 'Spring is here' and a 'word mat' that you could use to play Eye Spy with!

Finally there is also a link to a lovely spring song below and a video of some children going on their own spring nature hunt around their school. Enjoy watching the season develop and change over the next few weeks and hopefully it can bring us all a little bit of joy during these difficult times.
