Poppi-Mae's Granny Visits Junior Infants
As part of our aistear theme - 'My Locality and School', Poppi-Mae's granny, Ruth made a surprise visit to our classroom one morning this week.
She taught us about what school was like when she was a young girl in junior infants. She told us about the shops in the locality when she was a child and about the vegetable shop that is still there today on Meath Street!
She also told us about the games she played and the songs she learned as a child and we sang some of these with her. We found out that one of our favourite songs, 'The Hokey Pokey' was also one of Ruth's when she was a child! We were fascinated that these songs are passed down through the generations.
