June 8th-12th - 2nd Class - English

Hi everyone,

Good morning, I hope you all had a great weekend!

This week you can look at doing the following activities. However, there is no pressure to complete everything – the main thing is that you are all safe and well and getting outside for some exercise.

Suggested Activities:

  • Grammar and Speaking – I am attaching activities below which are related to compound words and fact vs opinion. The ‘fact vs opinion’ cards ask you to say a fact and an opinion about some pictures.

  • Sound of the week – Revision of words containing the sound oy, for example boy and joy. You could try to think of words which have this sound, and then to put these words into sentences. A good online resource for these words and sentences containing them is - https://www.spellzone.com/word_lists/list-68.htm

This is a calming ‘on and off’ breathing activity, if you are feeling worried about anything, or just to take a little break during the day. You sit in a chair noticing and tightening parts of your body, starting with your toes. You are turning the body’s energy off and on by using your breath, which should make you feel more relaxed.

  • Writing – There are some vocabulary and ideas for topics attached below for writing a piece of persuasive text, where you try to convince the reader of your ideas.

If you would like to get in touch to check in, or have any work to be corrected this can submitted through Aladdin Connect, or by email on room13c@stbrigidsthecoombe.ie. I would love to see some of the children’s work and hear how they are getting on!

Take care and have a happy and healthy week,

Ms. Healy
