Author of the Week - Oliver Jeffers

Hello Everyone,

Let's celebrate reading by listening to some wonderful stories by another great children's author- Oliver Jeffers! Oliver Jeffers truly is a talented human. Not only is he a children's author but he is also an illustrator. In Junior Infants we know that the pictures are just as important as the words. Even when we don’t know all the words we tell the most beautiful story by looking at the pictures and using our imaginations!

We love Oliver Jeffers in Room 14! Some of our favourites include ‘Lost and Found’ ‘Stuck’ and ‘The Way Back Home’. I wonder can you retell these stories to someone at home?

'The day the Crayons Quit' ,written by Drew Daywalt and illustrated by Oliver Jeffers and is another great, humorous story! Have a listen here:

Our world can be a bewildering place sometimes. Your head can be filled with questions. 'Here we Are' by Jeffers is another super book that explores our world and planet. Let's have a read!

Oliver Jeffers is doing his bit through these difficult times to help keep children entertained and of course, inspire a love of books. He is doing a daily read aloud of his wonderful stories.

Now that we are all indoors, why not make every day a children's book day at home.  Reading good books is certainly something that's helping me feel happier.

Happy reading,

Ms. Cowman
