Activities for Monday, May 11th

Good Morning everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here are some things for you to learn and to try out at home today.

If you would like to talk to me or show me what you’ve been up to, you can contact me at room4@stbrigidsthecoombe.ie

Also, you can contact me on Aladdin and share your work with me.

Best Wishes,

Anne Marie Keane

English

Activity: Make some words: The word I want you to look at is shamrock. How many smaller words can you find inside this word? Write them out.

Write some sentences about what you were doing over the weekend. Did you go somewhere new within the 5km!? Maybe you got to go out for a while and cycle a bike, ride on your scooter, watch a new film.. Remember to use our questions, Who, What, When, Where and Why. I’ve attached a poster below to remind you. Think about who did you go with?, what did you do?, where did you go?, when did you go? why did you cycle your bike?, for example.

Don’t forget capital letters and full stops. Capital letters usually begin at the top line, lowercase letters are smaller.

Mental Maths: Counting-Start at 0, and count to 20 and back to 0. Start at 5, count to 15 and back to 5. Start at 9, count to 19 and back to 9. Start at 4, count to 14 and back to 4. Start at 8, count to 20 and back to 0.

Activity: Money-Things to think about: What coins can make 10c? 5c and 5c, 10c on its own, 5c,2c,2c and 1c. Are there any other ways? Think about this and explore the options, write them down.

In Senior Infants we only add to 10c. If your child can add bigger numbers, feel free to explore this with them.

PE-Dance

Normally, we have Irish dancing in school on a Monday. So today I have a video tutorial of a new dance you could learn. We love to dance and move in school. It’s so important to take movement breaks throughout the day. Here is the link to the Can’t Stop the Feeling Dance Tutorial below.

Have fun!
